Why go birding on a skateboard?

This is the first in a series of posts designed to encourage birders to try skateboarding and skaters to try birding.
  • You can cover more ground when you are on a skateboard. Typical birding is done on foot which restricts you range of territory on a given outing. More territory = more birds!
  • Compared to biking, the slower speed of a skateboard allows for optimal bird surveillance while you are in motion.

  1. Sounds like the perfect combination (Peanut Butter and Jelly). I think I'm gonna join the movement!

Question: Have you thought about carrying a tripod in the trekking pole lashes of a Hiker's Day Pack? This will allow you to bring along the best scope for spotting birds, free your hands for safety, and leave enough carrying space for a light jacket and a snack (PB&J).

  2. Great idea Efren! If you send me a few hundred bucks for the scope I can make that happen. Just kidding, but only partly! When you are skating AND birding and youf funds are limited you need to make some tough choices. Do I get those killer new wheels or do I spring for a scope?! Now that is a first world dillema if I ever heard one!
